WINEMAKER’S REVIEW

“This wine begins like the eye of a black storm. The ink blot hues run from center to edge where wine touches the glass. The nose is a heady concoction of deep black, cherry, cassis, touches of cooking herbs, cold steel and graphite. The palate is explosive with fine acidity greeting the first taste and a massive center of black berries and more cherries. With time to stand in the glass the evolution with air evokes further red fruits and briar pushing up through the nose and condenses the palate to an elixir like tongue swirl feel persisting past 30 seconds. I believe cellared correctly this wine will evolve to 2036 and beyond. 50 cases produced, 22 months aging in 100% new Taransaud French Oak, bottled unfiltered and unfined.”

WINEMAKER’S REVIEW

“The mighty 2016 vintage was exceptional in Napa Valley and this latest release of Cabernet Sauvignon from Entrepreneur is poised and ready to be one of the brand’s finest releases yet. Drinking very well at an early age, the first impression is simply seamless. The oak nuances are subtle, and the fruit is finessed and lifted. Polished and stunning. Dried black cherry nuances pull through from the start of the sip to the swallow and into the tapered end. A full volley of flavor continues for over 45 seconds to a minute in the mouth! From the finest vintage we’ve had in the past decade emerges a wine I believe will satisfy its fortunate owner for 15 to 20 years, or more, if cellared correctly. Stagecoach is a vineyard with quality proven to last decades.”

91pts – Wine Enthusiast magazine: “Bright, tangy acidity helps lift a soft mid-palate of polished tannin in this appellation wine. It has enviable structure to offer around a layered flavor array of cassis, red currant and black cherry, its secondary characteristics playfully savory in black pepper and clove.”

Our 2013 Rutherford Cabernet is from the heart of the Napa Valley “floor,” selected from a vineyard owned by Far Niente Vineyards. The soils of the Valley floor mostly consist of weathered mountain dirt washed down through the centuries in rainstorms – sedimentary, alluvial and gravel-based. This soil, combined with the extra heat in the Summer months, tempered by afternoon marine winds, creates an “earthy” or “dusty” style of cabernet. Rutherford cabernets are also know for their red-cherry base. (75 cases)

A supple, seductive and extraordinarily ripe wine that will win it’s taster over! The approach is enticingly dark in the glass, the aromatics begin thick, fumy and packed with beautiful, long and elegant black fruit. The palate is equally entertaining with black plum, ripe cherry, a spice rack of oak and barrel vanillin, all supported with a nicely-textured tannin.

The esteemed Robert Parker Jr. celebrated this area and helped make it iconic in the early 80’s. Quite possibly no neighborhood in wine today has produced higher quality, or more high scoring Cabernets from prestigious wine authorities, in the world.
“This is a brooding black storm of a wine that begins with intoxicatingly rich black cherry, plum, graphite, with hints of vanillin and sweet tobacco. The mouth is a flush of mouth filling fruit and savories. Dried black cherry, espresso, vanilla and toast with the support of fresh acidity and very fine tannin for incredible length. The 100% new French oak support from Darnajou and Taransaud is perfectly structured for this 49-case blockbuster. I believe cellared correctly this wine will survive to 2039 and beyond.

91pts – Wine Enthusiast magazine: “From a 2,100-foot-elevation site, this wine is given 18 months in French oak. Earthy and wooded, it’s a sizable mountain of a wine, reflective of its provenance, with big, dry tannins and a taste of tobacco. Age through 2020.”

The 2012 growing season was one the best in recent history for Napa Valley, considered a classic vintage. An ideal spring provided near perfect conditions to start off the season followed by a long, sunny summer with no heat waves. The fall rains held off late into the harvest season enabling a long slow ripening.

The grapes were sourced from Constant Vineyard located in the Diamond Mountain appellation of Napa Valley situated at over 2100 feet elevation, one of the highest vineyards in Napa Valley. Due to the shallow soils the vineyard is farmed to very low yields per acre.

Decant this wine for 30- minutes before serving to accentuate the maximum fruit aromas and flavor profiles of this very age-worthy wine.

One of my very favorite vineyards, wines and vintages! This release puts it all together and delivers with abundance. The ’14 is full of jam-bomb fruit, great entry, middle and length to the end. The approach to the nose is a showy array of ripe red fruit, currants, dried cherry and a subtle kiss of oak vanillin. The mouth shows the typical sensations and feelings of premium mountain terroir. Lush red fruit, dense black cherry and a moderate fine block tannin backbone. While a bit youthful upon release, I cannot wait to see this wine in 5 or 10 years! I trust that cellared correctly, this Cabernet will be quite enjoyable to 2040 and beyond.

The 2013 Reserve is awesome to look at and provokes excitement and anticipation just resting, amazingly dark in the glass. The nose is full of ripe black currant, cherry, a little espresso and barrel toast. It’s a certainly an artful wine, coming across the nose in volleys and waves. The palate is strikingly pleasing, with pushing the limits of density and volume. Savory plum, blackberry preserves, lifted acidity and surrounding, but not too firm, tannins abound. This is a very elegant wine made to showcase power and restrain. That juxtaposition is what gives a wine great character and this certainly has plenty of that! Cellared correctly, this Cab will age for 20 magnificent years and beyond!

Beginning beneath a black veil and smattering wafts of layered 100% new French Oak vanillin, this Cabernet shows finesse and support with a broad spectrum of red fruit preserves, hot cinnamon candle wax, crushed rock, and a variety of Christmas spice. The palate is certainly youthful. The powerful flavors are striking and immediately grab your attention! As the bright raspberry and black cherry fruit unveils itself, there is lovely support coming from a sturdy backbone of lasting tannin. I appreciate this fine Cabernet perhaps the most for its upside potential in aging. I believe cellared correctly, this beautiful wine will go 25 years or longer.
